We might be the new kids on the block but we have over 150 years of experience of buying and selling wine between us. We set up North South Wines because we wanted to do business in collaboration with our producers and you: our customers. We're passionate about what we do and we are committed to providing you with a great customer experience.
Kim's success as Sales Director for a major UK distributor won her 'Drinks Business Young Achiever of the Year' at the 2013 London Wine Trade Fair, and she's brought all her enthusiasm, knowledge and energy to NSW, which she set up with Joy and Hamish early in 2014. She'll be driving our growth, and taking direct responsibility for multiple grocer and impulse accounts with Joy.
Joy has 18 years’ experience in the UK wine trade, from buying and new product development (she loves product development) to multiple grocer sales. Today Joy heads up Buying and Marketing and works closely with NSW's producer partners, team and customers to spot new opportunities and deliver growth.
Hamish is a qualified accountant who's spent the last nine years in the wine trade, spanning distribution in the UK and Ireland, and production in England, Italy, Australia and New Zealand. Hamish makes sure our finance, logistics, IT, legal and HR functions run smoothly.
There's not much Stefano Girelli doesn't know about bringing wine to the UK market. He comes from three generations of Italian wine producers, and ran Casa Girelli, the family business, for 35 years. Then in 2008 Stefano set up The Wine People focusing exclusively on Italian wines and its philosophy is to bring together the grower and the needs and desires of the market. Stefano has particular expertise in Veneto, Puglia and Tuscany, but the apple of his eye is Sicily where he owns Feudo di Santa Tresa, an organic estate in Vittoria.
Unlike his older brothers and sister, Victor De Bortoli was less certain that he should join the family wine company. While he helped out from an early age he was still unsure where his future lay after completing his secondary education in 1987. But after completing a commerce degree in 1993 he returned to the family business where he has been involved ever since setting up distribution in over 70 countries worldwide. Victor saw an opportunity with North South Wines which satisfied the growing needs of an ever evolving market and a market which had outgrown his own family's office which he had helped set up in 1996.
